Thank a Teacher

National Thank a Teacher day – Wednesday 20th May

On Wednesday 20 May, we are celebrating teachers, senior leaders, support staff and all those working in education settings who are making a difference to their schools and communities during the coronavirus outbreak.

The Department for Education is working in partnership with the Teaching Awards Trust which has produced a set of resources including a Thank a Teacher toolkit containing graphics, images and frames for social media that you’re free to use.

The Thank a Teacher Toolkit is available here:

https://thankateacher.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Thank-a-Teacher-Day-2020-Tool-Kit.pdf

Please feel free to use this resource to Thank a Teacher at St. John's. You can email them to school using the emails you were given or upload them onto Purple Mash.

Thank you

Sats competition. :  file (5215.2k)

Hello Year 6 and anyone else that would like to have a go.

Because we have missed completing our SATs this year and after all the hard work and effort you put in, I thought it wouldn't be fair if we let that all go to waste and I've created a special SATs paper for you to enjoy.

Please download the document and complete it before Friday 22nd May. You can email it back to me using the email owl@st-johns-greatharwood.lancs.sch.uk

I will mark them and make sure you are rewarded upon completion.

Enjoy and stay safe.

Mr Brearley

For our Year 6 Pupils

|

Today is the day that SATs would have started,
The hall set up and the tables parted,
The rules on the board, the display walls all covered,
Your workbooks away, out of sight in the cupboard,
Instead you are home, you’re doing your bit,
Protecting your families from getting sick,
It’s important right now, we’re in lockdown you see,
Being a part of world history,
You’ve all worked so hard, you should be so proud,
You’ve practised your SPAG and times tables out loud,
You’ve learnt algebra to the Nth degree,
And now the tests, they will no longer be,
Some may be sad that they can’t take the tests,
“Hip hip hooray,” I’ve no doubt said the rest,
Whilst the tests are on hold and you stay home this term,
Remember that tests can’t measure everything you learn,
And I don’t need SATs results to tell me,
How hard you have worked, it’s easy to see,
'Lockdown' Year 6, let me shout it out loud,
You’ve made all your teachers so very proud,
So please continue to learn, fill your brain until full,
And remember, we think you’re all wonderful! '

From Mr Brearley and all the staff.

Here is some of the amazing work that is happening at home.

 "Where everyone shines with God's love"

At Great Harwood St. Johns CE Primary School it is our mission to:

Build a better place, where:

Everyone is welcome;

No one is ever lonely;

We respect and trust each other;

There is always someone to ask for help;

People help us to be the best we can.

Our School's Christian Values

|

Thankfulness, Trust,  Perseverance, Justice, Service, Truthfulness, Generosity. Compassion, Courage, Forgiveness, Friendship and Respect.

These values underpin our whole curriculum and are lived out in everyday school life. We chose one value per half term to study in depth but all are referred throughout the whole school day.

This half term's value is Forgiveness.

Despite some difficult weather conditions, staff are committed to the education of our children.

In the case of severe weather conditions requiring a school closure, we will place any updates here on our website and inform you through our local radio station 97.4 Rock FM.

Holiday List for 2020-2021 is now available, to view go to the parents page, then dates for your diary... :
